One of my goals in Food Art 11 is to allow students to create their own recipes, play with flavours, and seek ways to balance nutrition and aesthetic appeal. Our first “flavour” exercise was to create original loaves using a choice of fruit or vegetable, mixings, and glaze (courtesy of The Food Network Magazine and one of my mentors, Jacquie Moon, from VSB). Students created full-size loaves that kicked off the “intoxicating smells” down the Home Economics wing to fortunate victims that share our side of the school. You’d be surprised what is in some of these loaves! Check out the scan below for the flowchart recipe and see some of the loaves our students created!
This loaf has zucchini in it!
Beautiful chocolate swirl pattern!
Orange glaze. Yum!
